Home Rule Charter in Livingston Parish

In the year 1996, Livingston Parish made the transition from a Policy Jury government, typical in the state of Louisiana, to a Home Rule Charter style of government.  The Home Rule Charter government includes Council-President, Commission, Consolidated Government, and City-Parish.  Livingston Parish is a Council-President Home Rule Charter.  This allows forms two branches of government; the Executive Branch or Parish President and the Legislative Branch or Parish Council.  Livingston Parish currently has 10 elected officials; 1 Parish President and 9 Council Members.
