4-H CLUB ROAD CLOSURE

Denham Springs, La. -- Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced that 4-H Club Road under Interstate 12 will close for approximately three months starting August 9 to build the new I-12 bridges.

Due to the nature of the overhead work and the confined work area, there will be no through access for vehicles, pedestrians or cyclists. Workers installed signs notifying the public of the closure. Detours during this portion of the project are Bass Pro Road or Rushing Road to Range Road.

DOTD is asking drivers to drivers to have patience during the closure and plan ahead before they venture out.

Denham Springs Mayor Jimmy Durbin said, “With the upcoming closure of 4-H Club Road for an extended period to allow for construction of a new overpass, I ask the residents of Denham Springs to please drive safely and accept the delays and detours as we watch highway improvements move forward.”

Livingston Parish President Mike Grimmer said, “With any progress, there are impacts involved but we’ve known this was coming for some time because DOTD has done a good job keeping us informed. We ask the public to have patience as DOTD closes this road because the end result of this work will benefit us all.”

DOTD offers to meet with interested groups and/or make presentations regarding the Geaux Wider Program. A DOTD open house workshop is tentatively scheduled for Aug. 17 in Livingston Parish/Denham Springs to discuss various transportation projects in the area. More details will be forthcoming.

The 4-H Club Road closure is part of the Geaux Wider Program, which includes widening almost 16 miles of I-12 and I-10, and a ramp meter system along I-12.

For more information on this project, visit www.GeauxWider.com or call Louisiana DOTD Customer Service at 1-877-4LA-DOTD (452-3683) 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The public may also access updated information on Facebook (Facebook.com/GeauxWider1) and Twitter (Twitter.com/GeauxWider). To help spread the word about the 4-H Club Road closure, Livingston Parish officials will post the information to its website, www.livingstonparishla.gov and to its Facebook site at http://www.facebook.com/livingstonparishla.
