I-12 LANE SHIFT
Eastbound lanes preparing to shift to new pavement along I-12 Widening Project
Baton Rouge—Motorists traveling eastbound on I-12 through the current construction area will experience two lane shifts beginning July 28. A lane closure will be necessary to reset barriers to accommodate this shift, and this will take place between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. on July 28.
The first shift will shift occur just east of the O’Neal Lane overpass and shift back to the original roadway before the Amite River Bridge. The second shift will occur just east of the Amite River Bridge and shift back to the original roadway just after passing the 4-H Club Road overpass. (Attached to this e-mail is a graphic illustrating the lane shifts. Please note that this graphic is not to scale.)
These shifts are necessary for workers to begin the second part of Phase One which will reconstruct the existing (old) roadway. These shifts will be in place for the next few months until the completion of the new eastbound Amite River Bridge later this fall.
Drivers wishing to detour this area will exit at O’Neal Lane and travel north to Florida Blvd. Turn right on Florida Blvd and travel east to Juban Road. Turn right on Juban Road and travel south to reconnect with I-12.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development appreciates your patience and encourages drivers to exercise caution and obey all warning signs through the construction area. Please be aware of all construction workers and equipment.
